POPARD is now providing a limited number of psychoeducational assessments for students who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
what happens in a psychoeducational assessment?
An assessment usually includes meetings with the parents and teachers, observations in the classroom and school, and one on one sessions with the student. The sessions with the student might include testing with toys, blocks, games and questions.
what does the assessment measure?
A psychoeducational assessment looks at how the student functions in the areas of cognition, adaptive behaviour, achievement, social cognition, and emotional and behavioural development.
how can an assessment can help your child?
An assessment helps teachers and other caregivers develop an appropriate educational program for the student. This can include strategies and supports, appropriate adaptations, modifications, and individual education plan goals.
who will conduct the assessment?
The psychoeducational assessments will be conducted by a Registered Psychologist or by POPARD’s School Psychologist Intern under the supervision of Registered Psychologists and the Principal of POPARD.
