Matching set to numeral

By POPARD

Matching Set to Numeral is another task that allows students to work independently using a Work System. This task allows students to practice following written picture-supported directions.

Materials you’ll need are:

  • file folder
  • sets of cards showing groups of 1, 2, and 3 of the same objects. A set of materials is attached.
  • packing or library tape
  • a felt marker

Instructions:

Cut out or build set cards. The cards in each set should show groups of 1, 2, and 3 of the same object in different spatial arrangements. In the file folder, create four pockets. One will hold all the cards when the file is not in use. The other 3 pockets will be labelled with numerals 1, 2, or 3. For students who have difficulty completing this task, small numerals can be included on the set cards, and then eventually faded (by reducing then removing the numeral).

The Student can follow the directions given in written and picture form available in the attachment below.

Work Systems allow a student to work independently in the classroom and eventually in work settings.
Please note that tasks for work systems should be directly related to a student’s IEP goals and be able to be independently performed.
