IMPLEMENTATION SUPPORT

POPARD uses an empowerment model of consultation. An Implementation Plan is developed at a student consultation meeting. The implementation support component was added with the recognition that a one-time visit and discussion of best practices is not sufficient to enable the team to follow through and successfully implement changes to their classroom environments and practice. POPARD is committed to helping school teams implement the plans they co-develop.

Consults are followed by some implementation support with follow-up contact as needed. The goal of POPARD’s consultation model is to work with the team to develop a manageable action plan that can be implemented with local support. The plan may involve the POPARD consultant providing support to the school team to effectively and accurately implement the selected strategies.

POPARD is committed to helping school teams implement the plans they co-develop.

Implementation support is considered to be similar to having a coach working with the team, providing a helping hand or scaffolding at whatever level is needed. Depending on the needs of the school team and the time that can be provided, this could involve supports such as modeling a strategy or approach; co-teaching; creating needed materials or resources; or ongoing coaching in person, by phone, or via video-conference. The specifics of implementation support is planned by the consultant in collaboration with the school team.
